Why Take aCtion?
- Ezra and Leah, founders of Indivisible, made a comment some weeks back that the upcoming expiration of the continuing resolution means that Democratic Party senators have another chance to exercise leverage to undo the damage done so far by this regime. Several articles written by well-known political pundits have followed echoing that message. This video is probably the most outstanding argument for the Democratic Senate leadership to exercise the leverage they have and to shut the government down til our government is restored. Watch Now!

- All of what we are trying to do has been blocked or overturned by the Supreme Court which no longer adjudicates from a legal standpoint but from an ideological standpoint. We, in many ways, no longer have a functioning legal system. So, wrap your head around this-there is a legal means to restrict what the court can consider for adjudication, and it is part of our demands. Watch and learn!!!

On October 1st, Congress decided to shut the Government down for lack of sufficient votes from Democratic Party Senators to permanently enact the budget that would strip away environmental protections, fund a police state, and deny healthcare to millions of our fellow citizens, particularly those in need-all to fund tax reductions for the wealthy and ultra wealthy. We applaud the Democratic Senators for refusing to give in and further undermine what remains of our government and our nation.
The Democrats are demanding just the restoration of the status quo with regard to healthcare and the Affordable Care Act. They have already told the regime so. What they are asking for isn’t nearly enough.
Indivisible on the Lakeshore has produced the attached document entitled “THE PEOPLE’S PLAN To REOPEN OUR GOVERNMENT”. If this list of demands is not agreed to, we insist the United States Government stay SHUT DOWN.
In a Free America, power resides with WE THE PEOPLE. A government that serves only the rich and powerful should not and will not be funded BY THE PEOPLE.
We need to pressure our Democratic leaders to advocate for our plan. Please distribute this plan widely by:
-Contacting Elected Officials through email, mail, or by visiting their offices
-Sharing it in public meetings
-Posting it in public places
-Sharing it on Social Media
-Sharing with family, friends, and neighbors
-Sharing it at Town Halls and Democratic Fund-raising events
-Sharing it with other Indivisible Chapters and other groups
